Harengon stories remember news roads around the Echo-Root; this does not mean every Harengon came from Rootbeyond or can open a gate. Runners in Dewleap carry news of season, witness, and oath rather than force an open threshold. Some owe reciprocal debts to a free court; most answer only to local road law.

Dew Leap is a small but open settlement in Thorn–Meridian Belt, established around Nareth forest border. It is not a separate kingdom viewed from outside; it is a village or quarter node tied to neighbouring roads, markets, and common law.
City life and diaspora
In Halvek, Harengon households participate in message-running and garden watches without being confined to a single “foreign quarter.” Someone arriving from the village can find kin, an apprenticeship, a guest bed, or a partner; city-born people maintain regular ties to Dew Leap.
Living together
Harengon are not reduced to one temperament, profession, or politics. Local agreements, access needs, and safety practices are made explicit so difference remains part of ordinary life. Their visible expertise is message-running and garden watches, but it is never anyone’s compulsory destiny.
