Hexbloods

Fey, whose life has been changed by ancient magic or witch pacts; people defined as much by their choices as by their origins.

Transformation, not citizenship

A Hexblood’s Fey touch does not automatically make them a member of a free court or a citizen of Rootbeyond. The transformation may concern a witch, a First Fey, a living grove, or a personal oath. The character’s real question is not “which court am I from?” but to whom the surviving word of their transformation remains binding.

Canonical record

Hexbloods are individuals transformed by witches, Fey, or living forest pacts. May be protected by the Pale Circle in the Crown of Thorns; Ordan is also considered an unregistered magic carrier.

A Hexblood does not lose his ancient culture. Whether family ties will continue after the transformation depends on the law of the society. Some start their own small covenant families.

Fey Resistance. Has advantage on saves against being charmed.

Treaty Price (Recharge 5–6). If a creature within 40 feet fails a GM 13 Charisma save, it is cursed for 1 minute. The first time he deals damage each round, he himself takes 4 (1d8) psychic damage. Repeats the save at the end of each round.
