Nagas
Long-lived ancient beings who stand guard around water, stone, and the ruins of ancient serpent civilizations.
Naga guards are not always agents of a single state. Some protect ancient treaties, some hide ruins from marauders, and some choose to sell knowledge of the past to new political powers.
Canonical record
Nagas live in Ancient Serpent ruins, river temples, and independent guardianships of knowledge. Some are the sacred ancestors of the Yuan-ti dynasties, some are their ancient enemies.
Naga cultures are based on long memory and a cyclical understanding of death. It is an ancient dispute whether the Nagas who returned after their physical death were the same legal persons.
