Three Eggs is planned around cycles of birth, illness, and water. Each island carries a different incubation right: one for the people, one for priestly lines, and one for the memory of beings who lived before the city. Medical discovery is therefore also a dispute over inheritance and faith.
The knot of healing and inheritance
First Shell holds birth houses and priest courts, Warm Ring healer gardens and patient platforms, and Sunken Tongue sealed research rooms descending into the Ancient Serpent’s stone channels. Priests argue the ruins must not be awakened; young scholars believe their knowledge of poison and renewal could heal the whole delta.
The council cannot first decide who receives treatment, because it must decide which body’s past may be excavated. Local families call the remains sacred ancestors, while some physicians call them a medical archive that was never human.
Table tensions
- A pulse from an unborn child can be heard in Sunken Tongue’s stone channels.
- The three islands’ incubation waters change colour, and only one remains safe to drink.
- A healer using Ancient Serpent knowledge begins to carry the memories of the patient they cured.
