Ur-Marak’s walls hold earth rather than stone; the city repairs them each fire season. Its continuity lies not in buildings but in shared knowledge of which grassland burns when. Whoever holds the fire calendar can steer the kingdom’s movement without wearing the crown.

Red Ring is the earthwork square where the war crown is chosen. Horse Shade markets collect herd, saddle, and migration-route contracts. Ash Scribes record the direction, smoke, and reseeding rights of controlled burns. Beyond the walls, Rain Watchers are the first neighbourhoods to see forest water and disease.
The expired king’s delayed election is more than constitutional crisis: who decides which ground burns until a new ruler is chosen? An early order starves the herds; a late one brings rainforest fire into the city.
