Ice Rifts and Brief Summer

In Ilyr-Khaz, summer is less a season than a shared mobilization. When rifts open, every village recalculates food, roads and kinship debts.

Table-facing places

  • Frozen Light: A fjord village of Rimekin ice-lamp and winter-seed growers.
  • Brief Summer Hearth: A Goliath storehouse, fairground and winter shelter.
  • Quiet Shore: A small Shadar-kai quarter for mourning textiles and memory chests.
  • Rift Share: Watch huts that announce ice passage anew each day.

Order and livelihood

Fuel is scarce in winter; time is scarce in summer. At Rift Share, passage follows the load carried that day, not family name. Rimekin share cold light, Goliaths rope work and Shadar-kai durable memory weaving.

Pressure and hooks

Fjord Councils want common stocks while Ice Traders seek early sales. Selling supplies out leads to higher passage fees, thinner watches and villages cut off by the first freeze.

  • Every lamp at Frozen Light points north instead of seaward.
  • A help bell rings from across a rift already closed.
  • A stolen memory chest proves one family’s passage right.
