In Kar-Dur, Rimekin households participate in ice lamps, winter seed, and passage watches without being confined to a single “foreign quarter.” Someone arriving from the village can find kin, an apprenticeship, a guest bed, or a partner; city-born people maintain regular ties to Frozen Light.
