Far Step is a small but open settlement in Asteron’s Northern Passes, established around Asteron northern passes. It is not a separate kingdom viewed from outside; it is a village or quarter node tied to neighbouring roads, markets, and common law.
City life and diaspora
In Dokuz Fener, Gith households participate in pass observation and dispute mediation without being confined to a single “foreign quarter.” Someone arriving from the village can find kin, an apprenticeship, a guest bed, or a partner; city-born people maintain regular ties to Far Step.
Living together
Gith are not reduced to one temperament, profession, or politics. Local agreements, access needs, and safety practices are made explicit so difference remains part of ordinary life. Their visible expertise is pass observation and dispute mediation, but it is never anyone’s compulsory destiny.
