Mist Chain and Deep Current

You hear the islands’ bells before you see them. In the Mist Chain, routes depend on mutually recognized beacon watches more than maps.

Table-facing places

  • Walking Coral: A Kalamer shore village that is land at low tide and sea at high tide.
  • Shell Pier: A small Hadozee yard for masts and nets.
  • Deep Bell: A shared beacon for Triton, Sea Elf and surface-captain current notices.
  • Mist Share: An island council recording each vessel’s water, rope and rescue contribution.

Order and livelihood

Under mist law, answering a first aid call precedes profit. Kalamer offer shoal knowledge, Hadozee mastwork and sea peoples current-reading. Ports stay open to those who pay their rescue share, not to a particular origin.

Pressure and hooks

The Deep Bell watchers defend neutrality; the Private Beacon Company wants paid routes. A false signal can become a wreck, rescue debt and a broken council.

  • Deep Bell rings three times with no ship in sight.
  • Walking Coral leaves an unknown chest on shore as it withdraws.
  • Every rope at Shell Pier is cut with the same knot.
