Saar-Kor

Open neighbourhoods

Giff freight workers, Leonin route wardens, and Flamekin hearthkeepers are familiar in caldera watches; see City Diasporas.

It is the capital of the Red Saar, built on the terraces of the large inactive caldera. There are dragon tombs, war academies and genealogical archives.

City information

High status in the city is measured by proximity to the center of the caldera. Signs of fire are seen again in the lower hearths; Dynasties consider this as a sign of the dragon's return.

Saar-Kor’s social map turns inward like its caldera: ancestry, archives, and military authority grow heavier nearer the centre. The outer terraces live by pack animals, casting, and foreign trade; anyone descending inward sees that the city is not merely a capital, but a claim of right founded on dragon inheritance.

The crown inside the caldera

Red Steps holds the war academies, Ash Ring the foundries and guest markets, and Lineage Wells the dynastic archives and tomb route. Nearness to the caldera centre is privilege but also danger: returning heat in the lower forges threatens the old dragon chambers and the lineage records within.

Dynasties want to read that heat as a dragon’s return; outer-terrace workers see cracked water lines and districts not evacuated. The real question is not “is the dragon returning?” but who may raise an army with that rumour.

Table tensions

  • A dragon tomb is struck from inside, while the lineage archive says that tomb is empty.
  • Flamekin furnace workers halt casting until the lower terraces are evacuated.
  • A student of Red Steps bears the same lineage name as a crystal memory in Prism.
